Scene From Bayeux Tapestry

The Bayeux Tapestry was created after the William the Conquerer captured the English Crown . This scene displays King Harold, the previous king on his court and some of his advisors discussing the advance of William the Conquerer. The rest of the tapestry displays the Battle of Hastings The Bayeux Tapestry is dated between 1070 to 1080.

Berg Eltz Castle

Berg Eltz castle in Germany is one of the most preserved castles from the Middle Ages in Europe and served as a defence for the local people. Berg Eltz was built by Rudolf Eltz, who got the funding from the Emperor Fredrick I, (Barbarossa). The castle is still owned by the original family and is now used as a tourist location. :)

Gold Coin With Charlemange

Glold coin minted in the Netherlands between 768-814. This coin bears the face of the first Holy roman Emperor Charlemagne who controlled most of Europe at the time. This coin displays that the Holy Roman Empire had an exstensive trade network, due to the use of a common currency.

Domesday Book

The Domesday Book was used by King William of England to keep a census of his people and was also used to collect taxes. This book was an important social achievement because it was the first national census in history.

Battle of Hastings

The Battle of hastings was fought in 1066 when William the Conquerer took the English Crown from Harold II. This victory ended the Anglo-Saxon rule in England. This victory impacted the English culture, by blending French and English traditions.

Inside Erfurt Cathederal

One of the two cathderals located in Erfurt, Germany. Construted in the 1300's, the cathederal was also the home to the once catholic minister, Martin Luther, who later on went to translate the Bible into German and found the Lutheran Religion.

Wartburg Castle

The Wartburg Castle, located in Germany, was the place where Martin Luther translated the bible into German, changing the face of the Christian religion for ever, by creating the Luthern religion, and other protestant religions.

Battle of Tours

This picture, illustrating the Battle of Tours, was faught by the Franksih army, which was led by Charles Martel to prevent the Muslim forces of Spain to stop flowing into Europe. This battle affected Europe by saving what was left of the Roman Empire, the northern Germanic tribes, and the catholic church from the Islamic advances. If Charles Martles army was to lose, Europe eventually might have been converted to Islam and completely annexed to the Arabian Calipahate.

Koln (Colgone) Cathedral

The Koln Cathederal (formaly known as located in Koln Germany. The cathderals foundation was laid in 1248, but wasn't finished until 1880, due to lack of funds. The purpose of the cathederal was to house the remains of the Three Wisemen, which are still housed in the cathederal today. Originally a light stone, the cathederal is blackened by air pollution.
